New Born
All eyes stay shut for the first 10-12 days. At first, the babies all look about the same, pink or light grey. As the day passes, their skin color changes a little. Knowing the parents’ genes, I expected any of the 4 tort types, 4 harlequin types, an Orange or Fawn, and a beautiful BEW.
-

New Born Orange with Vienna Marking
Eyes: Closed
Skin Colour: Warm orange glow & Pink indicating either Agouti Orange or Chocolate tort. At the moment leaning more towards Orange as tummy is pink along with inside of ears.
-

New Born BEW
Eyes: Closed but will be blue as known genetics.
Skin colour: Pink all over indicating this baby will be White.
-

New Born Lilac or fawn
Eyes: Closed
Skin Colour: Pinkish with a brown undertone indicating lilac tort or fawn.
-

New Born Chocolate Harlequin
Eyes: Closed
Skin Colour: Light brown & pink indicating either a Chocolate Harlequin.
-

One Week Old
After just one week, their beautiful coats are starting to appear. We have a couple of obvious colourings, the BEW and Chocolate Harlequin. The orange that could of been a tort or orange is now showing white inside the ears, around the eyes and tummy and therefore is confirmed to be Agouti Orange rather than a chocolate tort. The fawn bunny could still be a few different options.
-

Vienna Marked Orange
Eyes: Closed
Fur colour: We now have clear orange and white fur. The white line on the top of their head comes from the Vienna gene. The white inside the ears, o the tummy and around the eyes indicates that this is not a tort and in an orange Agouti based bunny,
-

BEW
Eyes: Closed but as above we know these will be blue.
Fur colour: Pure white coat with slightly pink ears. This coat is likely to remain white and not develop colour on the points.
-

Chocolate Harlequin
Eyes: Closed
Fur Colour: We now have distinct chocolate and orange marking and a typical split face harlequin , most likely an Agouti variety due to the white inside the ears. It is unknown if there is any Vienna Marking.
-

Vienna Marked Lilac Tort or Fawn
Eyes: Closed
Fur Colour: A nice fawn shade has appeared. In some light, the ears might look white inside and others a light grey. I am also starting to see some very subtle grey patches so this could be neither a tort or fawn but a lightly marked lilac harlequin.

Two Weeks Old
By two weeks, most kits have their eyes fully open and eagerly begin jumping out of the nest. They start practicing their hopping skills and gradually exploring their surroundings for short periods of time. With each passing day, they grow stronger and their unique personalities begin to shine through more clearly. Over the next 5 weeks their ears will flop.
-

Vienna Marked Agouti Orange

Blue Eyed White (BEW)
